DIY Decorations for Valentine's Day
Love is in the air! Are you hosting a Valentine's Day party this year? Rather than spend a bunch of money at the party supply store on decorations, why not make your own decorations for Valentine's Day? It's fun and cost-efficient so you can spend your money on more important things such as a breathtaking party venue, entertainment and refreshments. Here are some DIY decoration ideas for your Valentine's Day bash!
These fun topiaries make great center pieces for dining tables or work well simply places around any table or counter top. All you need to do to make these is purchase some Styrofoam balls and hot glue SweetHearts all over them. Then get a small tin bucket (you can find these at craft stores) and glue a Styrofoam square to the bottom. Wrap up a small stick with colorful ribbon, stick it into the ball and then secure it in the Styrofoam square in the bucket. Cover the square with SweetHearts and voila!
Rainbow Felt Heart Banner
Get a bunch of different colors of felt, some string and a hole puncher. Cut out the heart shapes, punch two holes on the edges of each heart and string them together. This is an excellent way to brighten up your party space. Plus if you have children this is an awesome activity they would enjoy as well.
Sequin or Glitter Covered Letters
These are the best! You can spell out things like "Love", "XOXO" or other cute phrases to display at the big party. Craft stores sell these letters most of the time or you can cut them out yourself with some big pieces of cardboard and some stencils. Then all you need to do is cover them with glue or some other strong adhesive and apply either glitter or sequins. Let them dry completely before handling them.
Valentine's Day Advent Calendar
Find a magnetic board at Michael's or JoAnns. Pick red or pink if you can find it. Then grab some fun letters from the scrapbook department and write something creative about the countdown to V-day. Get some little magnets and glue numbers on them. Stick the numbers on the board and pop one off each day. This is a fun craft to hang in an office area as well if you're hosting the party for coworkers.
Get votive cups and mason jars. Then buy a bunch of different sized candles. Fill the jars partially up with fun things like colored sprinkles, red glass pebbles and the like. You can even cut out some paper hearts and secure them to the front of the cups and jars. Then place the candles inside and you've got a romantic candle set to lighten up the night!
