4 Ways to Celebrate Galentine's Day 2021

Calling all my single ladies out there! Whether you love or hate Valentine’s Day, you deserve to be celebrated and spoiled just as much as those in relationships get to be. Organize your group of best single girlfriends and create a plan to make Valentine’s Day all about you gals! Here are some ways that I recommend spending Galentine’s Day this year.

4 Ways to Celebrate Galentine's Day

1. Virtual Wine Tasting

If your best girlfriends are spread across the country, then meet up virtually! And no, I do not just mean for your regular Zoom happy hours that you have been having since March. Today can be different. Either check out the virtual offerings that your local restaurants may be putting together or set up your own DIY virtual wine tasting! Have everyone dress up in festive colors, purchase the same bottles of wine from their local stores, and order or print out a wine tasting chart for everyone to use during the tasting. Don’t forget to inspire one another with homemade charcuterie boards, and enjoy some virtual time with your best friends!

2. Dinner Out

Get to making a reservation if you live close to your Galentine’s because seating will be booked soon! Restaurants have been promoting all sorts of unique dining options for the holiday of love - prix-fixe menus, tasting menus, igloo experiences, and exclusive specials. Many specials are offered Friday through the whole weekend since Valentine’s Day falls on a Sunday. If you do not feel comfortable dining out for Valentine’s Day, then grab any of these special experiences to-go and enjoy in the safety of one of your friend’s homes. If you have a small group of friends who live far from one another, surprise each other with meals that you pick out and send to their homes. You and your gals deserve to treat yourselves to a delicious restaurant-cooked meal this year!

3. Sending Gifts

Treat each of your Galentines to a special gift just for her, or choose from the group of names “Secret Santa” style to pick your Galentine gift recipient. Check out your local small businesses for any gifts to ship in the mail, flowers for delivery, or a custom box experience, like BoxFox which has its own Valentine’s Day category to choose from for loved ones. It’s the thought that counts and many treat delivery services work on a last-minute basis, like Baked by Melissa and Milk Bar which also have special Valentine’s Day options. Another creative gift idea could be a personalized video message from your gal’s favorite celeb from the website Cameo

4. Anti Valentine’s Day Party

If your crew of Galentines falls under the “Valentine’s Day haters” persona, then create your own small anti-Valentine’s Day gathering, either in person or online. Start by choosing activities - like pin the “X” on your ex, dancing to a playlist of “love stinks” songs or a drinking game where you all take a drink for every mushy post you see on Instagram. Be sure to make or order all of the foods that you would never be caught dead eating on a first date - like buffalo wings, extra garlicky pasta, and corn on the cob. And of course, create some custom cocktails with creative names, in honor of the relationships of your pasts.

No matter what your Galentine’s Day plans may be, the point is to celebrate with your favorite girls and feel confident with the independence you and your single ladies embody. Who needs a significant other when you have your girlfriends?!
