The Winchester Mystery House® - San Jose, CA

The Winchester Mystery House® is an architectural wonder and historic landmark in San Jose, CA that was once the personal residence of Sarah Lockwood Pardee Winchester, the widow of William Wirt Winchester and heiress to a large portion of the Winchester® Repeating Arms fortune.

In 1885 Sarah moved from Connecticut to California, after losing both her daughter and husband to illnesses. After buying an 8-bedroom farmhouse, she spent the rest of her life mostly in solitude and constant construction on the now-mansion, spending her inheritance to build the massive and most unusual mansion.

Famous Restaurants on EventUp

Antoine's Restaurant - New Orleans, LA

The world-renowned French-Creole cuisine of Antoine’s Restaurant and impeccable service and unique atmosphere have combined to create an unmatched dining experience in New Orleans since 1840.

Their exquisite private rooms accommodate parties from 14 to 300, with a seating capacity of over 700. Private rooms are located both upstairs and downstairs; private rooms upstairs are reserved for private parties. All of the dining rooms are lavishly decorated and have a theme.

Antoine's Restaurant is the birthplace of the dish Oyster Rockefeller. The Oyster Rockefeller dish was crafted back in 1889 by Jules Alciatore in his father’s restaurant, Antoine’s Restaurant after there was a snail shortage. The rich dish was named after John D. Rockefeller, as he was the wealthiest man at the time. Today, the recipe is still a heavily guarded secret, but you can still enjoy the dish at its birthplace.
