Valentine’s Day is less than a week away! No matter if you are single or have a significant other - most people fall into two categories - you either LOVE Valentine’s Day, or you HATE it. This post is for those who enjoy spending the day telling those around them how much you love and care about them and need some last-minute ideas. Here are seven ideas better than a stuffed bear and a boring box of chocolates for your Valentine.
1. DIY Food and DrinksTastings
What is your couple’s drink of choice? For my husband and me, it’s Margaritas. Take your drink of choice and build a whole tasting complete with drinks and food pairings. For your tasting, plan on having four to six rounds of small tastings. For our Margarita’s, each round we can customize with a new brand of tequila, mixer, rim flavors, or specially added flavors such as jalapeños or grapefruit. Sticking with the same theme, for our food pairings, I would get different types of chips, salsa, and guacamole. To bring everything together, a main dish of quesadilla works well with everything else. Dim the lights, light some candles, and snuggle up on the couch with your very own private DIY tasting.
2. Virtual Tastings with Friends
Looking for a little more interaction with others? Look out for local restaurants that are offering Virtual Tastings. Our friends over at Dear Irving & Raines Law Room in New York are hosting a special Valentine’s Day tasting: Cupids Delivery Class, where you will learn how to make the “Steadfast Rose” cocktail along with the mixologist as well as learn some neat facts about the history of the drink along with other bartending facts. Save your spot now to ensure your drink ingredients can be shipped in time. Turn your living room into a tasting room while letting the experts do all the heavy lifting.
3. Virtual Dinner & Drinks - Cook Along
Take your virtual experience one step further. Sign up for a virtual cooking class where you can follow along with a chef to create your own romantic cocktail and meal. Truffle Shuffle is offering a Valentine’s Day Surf and Turf meal with La Vie en Rose. You can even add fresh black truffles to your order.
Charcuterie boards have taken Instagram by storm lately. There is a charcuterie board to please everyone. We even wrote a whole post about our Favorite Charcuterie Instagrams To Follow. Fall in L.O.V.E. with this Valentine’s Day board from Ain’t Too Proud To Meg. Head over to Target and stock up on all the Valentine’s Day candy and put together a sweet charcuterie board for your special someone.
