Celebrate National Tequila Day With EventUp - July 24th

Are you aware that July 24th is one of the most incredible national holidays ever celebrated? That’s right, folks, it’s National Tequila Day. Time to get out your cocktail shaker and favorite bottle of Tequila (ours is Casamigos) because we’ve got three delicious, non-margarita cocktails to help get your celebration started. All measurements listed are for one serving, but you can easily batch more at once for large events.  Read on for the details.

This one is for all of you margarita fans out there. It’s very similar to that classic tequila cocktail but polished up a bit with some fresh ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 2-3 oz your favorite Tequila
  • 1-2 oz freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1-2 oz honey simple syrup (to make this, simply combine equal parts honey and water and dissolve it over medium heat in a saucepan and make sure to cool it before adding to your shaker)
  • 4-5 fresh mint leaves (torn into small pieces)
  • 1 cup CRUSHED ice (notice the capital letters - crushed ice works wonders for this drink)

Instructions

In a cocktail shaker, add your torn mint leaves, freshly squeezed lemon juice, tequila, and honey simple syrup. Shake vigorously until it’s well combined. Fill a cocktail glass with crushed ice and pour the mixture over the ice. Garnish with a fresh lemon slice and enjoy!

2. Ginger Mint Paloma

I love a good Paloma but the addition of ginger and mint to this one makes it irresistible. I highly recommend enjoying this one outside by the pool or even better by the ocean.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Reposado Tequila (again we recommend Casamigos)
  • 1.5 oz grapefruit juice
  • 1 oz freshly squeezed lime juice
  • .5 oz ginger simple syrup (you can make your own by following this recipe or purchase it already made at your local liquor store)
  • 5 mint leaves

Instructions

Muddle the mint. Combine all ingredients into your cocktail shaker over ice and shake vigorously for at least 10 seconds. Add fresh ice to a highball glass and fine strain the mixture over the ice. Garnish with a grapefruit wheel and mint sprig.

3. Lagerita Cocktail

Here’s a great recipe for all you beer lovers out there. It’s the perfect addition to any outdoor BBQ or lakeside cookout.

Ingredients

  • 1 lime zested
  • 1 tsp flaky sea salt
  • 1 tsp mild chili powder
  • 1 oz your favorite tequila
  • 1 oz freshly squeezed lime juice
  • .5 oz simple syrup
  • 8 oz lager or light IPA of your choice

Instructions

Zest your lime onto a plate and add the sea salt and chili powder. Rub a wedge of lime around the rim of your beer glass and press the glass into your mixture.

Add tequila, lime juice, and simple syrup to a cocktail shaker with ice and shake until it’s combined. Add fresh ice to your beer glass and a lime wedge. Strain the mixture into your beer glass and top with beer.
